Plenty on offer during Malvern EnviroWeek 2019
Malvern EnviroWeek 2019 will return next week and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Held from 14 to 20 October, the week is the second of its kind and will offer a number of events and activities to the public.
As part of the week, the first ever Greener Living Fair will be held from 1pm to 3.30pm on Saturday 19 October in Great Malvern Priory.
There will be free demonstrations, talks and stalls offering advice and information on how to be kinder to the planet.
A free one hour Rag Rug Making Workshop will teach people the basic techniques involved with making a vibrant rag rug out of unwanted clothes. The workshop, by Malvern Country Market, will be at 1.15pm and a £5 deposit is required to book a place.
Visitors can marvel at some of the oldest trees in Malvern at 1.30pm with the Tree Tour (Malvern's Marvellous Trees). With more than 20 different tree types in the graveyard alone, there is plenty to see.
A number of community litter picks will also take place as part of the week, with equipment available for loan from Malvern Hills District Council.
The popular EnviroWeek Photo Competition has returned for another year and residents are being encouraged to share their best photos of the district.
The top ten photographs will be framed and exhibited in Great Malvern Priory for three weeks in November and December.
Photos can be submitted by sharing them to social media and tagging Malvern Hills District Council with the hashtag #MalvernEnviroWeek2019. The deadline is 4 November.
Cllr John Raine, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "It is very pleasing to welcome the annual Malvern EnviroWeek. The event will once again offer a wide range of fun and informative activities to suit people of all ages. It is so important that we all make the effort to learn more about what we can do to help the planet and to make those much-needed small changes that together will make a significant difference."
To book on to the Rag Rug Making Workshop, please visit Malvern Tourist Information Centre on Church Street, next to Lyttelton Well (open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm).
It is a maximum of two places per person and a cash deposit of £5 per person is required. The workshop is suitable for all ages but those under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
