Popular walking programme set to return

A popular walking programme which encourages people across the district to get active is set to return next month.

Malvern Hills District Council's eight-week 'Walk Fit' programme costs £20 and will help people to gradually walk briskly for 30 minutes, three times a week.

It will take place at Callow End Village Hall between 2pm-3pm and starts on Wednesday, 11 November 2020.

Participants will receive training and support from the council's Physical Activity and Well-being Officer, Rachel Nicholls.

Walk Fit has been designed for beginners of all ages and aims to help improve confidence and fitness while benefiting mental well-being.

Taking a social and informal approach, the scheme also hopes to build friendships.

Cllr Tom Wells, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "It's really important to look after your mental health, especially in these circumstances, and physical activity is an integral part of this. This programme is a great way to give people who may not be very sporty the confidence to take on a new challenge."

Social distancing measures will be in place at all times and numbers are limited to 12 people.
