Residents urged to take part in Great British Spring Clean
Malvern Hills District Council is asking residents to help take on the litter louts as part of this year's Great British Spring Clean. The nationwide clean-up takes place from March 22 to April 23 and will see up to half a million people taking action to clean up streets, parks and beaches across the country.
Residents are being asked to join the district council on a litter pick to launch the campaign on 15 March and to report any 'litter hotspots' in their area that need targeting.
The council will also be making kits available to Parish and Town Councils, as well as community groups to take part.
In 2018, hundreds of local authorities pledged support for the Great British Spring Clean and during the campaign, more than 370,000 people collected 630,000 bags of rubbish.
Cllr Bronwen Behan, responsible for Environment and Community Safety on Malvern Hills District Council, said: "We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of the world, however, there is still a minority of thoughtless individuals who continue to blight it by littering.
"The Great British Spring Clean is a chance for us to join together against the litter louts and to help preserve our breath-taking surroundings for all to enjoy."
