The Council House Weddings & Civil Partnerships

Thank you for choosing the Council House for your special day, below are a few details for your information:

Elgar Room

The room hire charge is non-refundable after one month of booking. Cancellation within one month of booking will incur an admin charge of £25. The fee paid is for the hire of the room only, a separate fee is payable for the Registrar. If you have not booked the Registrar please contact them as soon as possible on: 01905 768181. A minimum notice period of 28 days is required to get married.

The ceremony room is licenced for 55 people (50 guests, plus the couple, Registrars and Custodian), please do not exceed this number as it will not be possible to accommodate all of your guests in the room. If a guest brings in a push chair, or is in a wheelchair or uses a mobility scooter, please contact us prior to your ceremony as this will reduce the number of guests that can be accommodated. Please note that children over 9 months count as a person.
