The successful opening of Kempsey Eco Business Park is providing a welcome boost to the supply of high-quality commercial premises in the Malvern Hills district.
Located on the southern edge of Kempsey, the 2.5-acre development provides a mix of retail and light-industrial units designed for modern businesses with a growing number of businesses already taking space at the new development.
Among the businesses now establishing themselves at the park are Gandies, Two Fellers Tree Surgery, Transform Hub Worcester, Instant Scenery and Ignite Fulfilment demonstrating the demand for good-quality, flexible commercial premises that can support businesses as they start, grow and create new jobs.
The development also reflects the increasing importance of sustainability to businesses.
Kempsey Eco Business Park incorporates a range of environmental features including renewable clean biomass energy, photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging points and cycle facilities.
For Malvern Hills, increasing the supply and quality of employment premises is particularly important in helping existing businesses to grow while also attracting new investment into the district.
The council's Economic Development Team is also available to support businesses looking to establish, expand or invest in Malvern Hills. This includes helping businesses identify suitable commercial property and providing access to advice, funding and wider business support.
The council funded Malvern Hills Growth Fund, for example, provides grants of between £500 and £15,000 to eligible local SMEs, supporting projects that can help businesses expand, improve productivity, create jobs or increase turnover.
The council also works closely with Worcestershire Growth Hub to provide businesses with access to advice and support on growth, finance, skills and investment.
Cllr Daniel Walton, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “It is really encouraging to see Kempsey Eco Business Park successfully opening and attracting businesses. New commercial developments of this quality are important to the local economy because they give businesses more choice and, importantly, provide the space they need to start up, expand and create employment. The development also complements the direction of travel set out in the South Worcestershire Development Plan Review, which allocates various new additional employment sites across the district to support economic growth over the coming years.”
