Fun sessions return as Splash officially opened

Families will be able to try out Malvern Splash's new water play features for the first time this weekend.

Although the pool reopened on 12 April after a £2million revamp by Malvern Hills District Council, only basic swimming was allowed because of lockdown restrictions.

With these having been lifted this week, the Freedom Leisure team – which runs Malvern Splash on behalf of the council – is looking forward to restarting family fun sessions from Saturday 22 May.

Cllr Sarah Rouse, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council, Ivan Horsfall-Turner, Managing Director of Freedom Leisure, Cllr Cynthia Palmer, Chairman of Malvern Hills District Council and Nick Charlton, Manager of Malvern Splash.

This means swimmers will be able to take a ride on the new flume, enjoy the new interactive water play features and the new wave machine. The swimming pool changing rooms have been fully refurbished with more family changing areas available and there are dedicated facilities for people with disabilities.

A range of energy efficiency features have also been installed to help reduce the centre's carbon footprint including LED lighting and improved glazing,

To celebrate, a short ceremony took place poolside on Monday (17 May) with Cllr Cynthia Palmer, Malvern Hills District Council's new Chairman, cutting the ribbon.
