Get set for the Great Malvern Gin Festival

Drinkers of gin are in for a treat as Malvern gets set to host its very own festival dedicated to the popular spirit.

The Great Malvern Gin Festival takes place from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 August. There are ten venues signed up to take part with more than 50 gins available to test out from classic tastes to the weird and wonderful.

While people are enjoying their tipple, there will be live music and gin talks from locally distilled Hussingtree Gin and Malvern Gin, along with special gin cocktails to sample during the weekend. For the dedicated drivers and non-gin lovers there will be plenty of non-alcoholic drinks to try as well.

The festival is free and a full list of the venues taking part is available on our website at www.malvernhills.gov.uk/town-centres. Trail maps will be available to download from the website or participating venues.

The event is part of the council's ambition to increase the number of events across the district to generate footfall and support businesses. The festival is being funded using money from the Government's Welcome Back Fund, which comes from the European Regional Development Fund.

Cllr Daniel Walton, Portfolio Holder for Economy and Tourism on Malvern Hills District Council, said: "Fans of gin will absolutely love our new festival. There will be so much to choose from throughout the weekend as well as live entertainment to enjoy. We hope this provides a welcome boost to our hospitality businesses. We want people to enjoy themselves but please do so responsibly."

Jeff Parlett, from The Old Con Club and Cllr Daniel Walton, Portfolio Holder for Economy and Tourism on Malvern Hills District Council, get ready for the gin festival.
