Get active with festive challenge

A festive challenge returns this December which encourages residents across the Malvern Hills District to improve their wellbeing every day leading up to Christmas.

The Active Advent challenge, which will run from 1 to 24 December, has 24 daily virtual challenges designed to help physical and mental health in the run up to the festive period.

Aimed at people of all ages, after signing up, participants will receive a virtual advent calendar and behind each door there is a link to a challenge to complete.

At the end of some of the challenges there will be a letter, once all of these are collected, they will spell out a Christmas phrase. A medal is up for grabs for those who complete the challenge and send in the phrase.

The fun daily challenges include practising mindfulness with a take notice walk, taking a break from mobile devices, making a nourishing smoothie and doing a desk workout.

The Active Advent challenge costs £3 each (which includes a medal) but there are only 20 medals, so availability is limited.

Cllr Natalie McVey Portfolio holder for Housing and Health at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "Looking after our wellbeing is so important, especially during the winter months as the dark nights are drawing in. The daily tips and activities are really positive and beneficial in all areas of our physical and mental wellbeing."
