Residents are being encouraged to get active in the New Year with new fitness and wellbeing programmes.
Launching on Tuesday 11 January with Run Further and Couch to 5k, and Healthy Habits on 12 January, the programmes, provided by Malvern Hills District Council, aim to help improve people's health and wellbeing.
Couch to 5km is a programme that helps complete beginners work up to running for 40 minutes. Taking place at Malvern Vale Community Centre, and from Malvern Hills District Council Offices starting 13 January, it costs £30 for the 12-week programme.
Run Further is a virtual 10-week programme aimed at people who can already run for 40 minutes and helps build up to running 10km. The course costs £20 and will take place via zoom.
Healthy Habits costs £20 for 10 weeks or £2 pay as you go. The new 10-week programme takes place at The Octagon Malvern, and consists of weekly talks including: sleep, stress, how to relax, hormones, healthy eating, mindset and a range of exercise classes to try such as resistance bands, weights, yoga and Pilates.
All programmes will be fully supported by MHDC's Physical Activity and Wellbeing Officer, Rachel Nicholls, who will provide support and advice throughout the sessions.
Cllr Tom Wells, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "It's really important to look after our mental and physical wellbeing, and January is always a good time to make a start. These programmes cover all aspects of wellbeing from talks on how to relax to exercise classes which can be tailored to individual fitness levels. We hope residents enjoy what's on offer in the New Year."
