Midsummer Malvern Festival returns

Celebrate the unique history and hidden heritage of the Malvern Hills District with the return of the Midsummer Malvern Festival.

The event, which will run from Saturday 25 June to Sunday 3 July 2022, has been organised by Malvern Civic Society and is a one-week celebration of community activity.

Malvern Hills District Council has supported the event with £1000 towards the costs of the festival.

During the week there will be a number of historical guided walks, theatre tours, live music and activities across various locations, including Great Malvern Priory and Malvern Theatres.

Events include an opening ceremony of Jazz in the Park on Saturday 25 June, and The Malvern Hills Trust walk on 28 June which will uncover hidden heritage from abandoned Victorian gardens and donkey sheds to ancient archaeology.

Also taking place during the festival is a Dudley Brook Tree Walk in Priory Park, with over twenty trees planted in Victorian times to see and enjoy, and Malvern Library will be hosting the Changing Face of Malvern Exhibition, which takes a look at Malvern over the past 200 years.

Cllr Daniel Walton, Portfolio Holder for Tourism and Economic Development at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "The Midsummer Malvern Festival is a great opportunity to learn more about the people who shaped the history of this area and discover the district's heritage, whilst also admiring the wonderful landscape, buildings and traditions that we are surrounded by."

Roger Sutton, from Malvern Civic Society said: "This festival is an opportunity for people of all ages and interests to learn about the work of the Civic Society and the history and heritage of our interesting town."
