Make a difference in your community with Neighbourhood Watch

Residents are being encouraged to make a difference in their community by setting up a local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.

Malvern Hills District Council is offering support to communities within the district to set up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in their area to help make it a safer and stronger place to live.

The national scheme, which is now in its 40th year, is the largest crime prevention voluntary movement in England and Wales and has upwards of 2.3 million members.

The scheme provides communities and group members with a wealth of information such as crime prevention tool kits, support, advice on safety, a local link to the Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team who send out regular policing updates, and more.

It also enables group members to be more equipped to tackle important issues affecting the community.

Since 2019 the council has supported 11 schemes across the Malvern Hills District, the latest local neighbourhood watch group has been set up to cover the whole of the Malvern Vale area.

Cllr Julie Wood, local councillor for Dyson Perrins Ward at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "The Neighbourhood Watch Scheme is a really effective way to make a difference in the community. By working together and looking out for each other and our neighbouring property's we can continue to ensure the district is a safe environment for us all to enjoy."

Tim Moore, Malvern Vale Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator said: "I am delighted to be the coordinator for the new Neighbourhood Watch in Malvern Vale. Malvern Vale already has a very good community togetherness and with Neighbourhood Watch I am hopeful that we can all do our bit to keep our estate safe for everyone who lives here. Neighbourhood watch means we'll have a closer link to our local Police and up to date information on local issues. All you need to do is sign up online."
