Are you passionate about Priory Park?

People who are passionate about Priory Park are being encouraged to become volunteers to help maintain it as a treasure for years to come.

The Friends of Priory Park (FOPP) group is looking for more volunteers to help with litter-picking, weeding, planting bulbs and creating insect habitats at the popular park in Great Malvern, as well as to discuss new ideas to improve the area.

The group works closely with Malvern Hills District Council to support the park's ongoing developments.

The group became short on committee members when volunteer numbers reduced as a result of covid.

Volunteers are sought after who can offer expertise and practical help with the following:

  • Planting projects
  • All aspects of media for information sharing
  • Small scale event planning
  • Practical handyman projects
  • Liaison with other local groups
  • Applying for small grants
  • Discussing new ideas to improve the area
  • A general interest in working with others to add value to the unique Priory Park

The Facebook page, which is called Friends of Priory Park Malvern, is a place for people to share their experiences, wildlife sightings, artwork, memories and to also get involved with volunteering.

Jane Smith, FOPP Committee Member, said: "Join us in celebrating our unique and glorious park in such a stunning setting. It is also great to meet new people and be a part of a community, as well as making a real difference."

Cllr Peter Whatley, Portfolio Holder for Resources at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "It is wonderful to have a community group like FOPP who want to give their time to help keep Priory Park blooming. They have a great passion for the park and work really hard in co-operation with MHDC to ensure it is a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy. If you have some spare time, then I encourage you to join in and volunteer."
