New discount book offers low-cost advertising for local businesses

A new discount book is now available for local businesses to advertise for just five pounds to help encourage new customers and sales.

District Discount 500 is a new initiative which aims to generate footfall and new sales for local businesses within the Malvern Hills District.

The initiative forms part of Malvern Hills District Council's commitment to supporting local businesses and communities as part of new Town Centre Plans.

For five pounds, businesses will be able to advertise a voucher or discount of their choice, including a logo and/or photo.

The adverts will feature in 5000 booklets, all containing 500 vouchers and discounts, which will be available to customers for six months.

The booklets will then go on sale to customers online and in stores from November at a low cost of £1.

There is also an option for businesses to sell the books and retain some of the costs.

Cllr Daniel Walton, Portfolio Holder for Tourism and Economic Development at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "This is a great opportunity for local businesses to advertise any discounts at a low cost. With the uncertainty of the cost-of-living and Christmas just around the corner, local discounts and offers will enable customers to get excellent value for money along with the chance to support local businesses."

Annette Keyworth, owner of Upton News said "It's very rewarding working on a project that so positively impacts our community on multiple levels. It really is a win on a circular level including the people of the district, local businesses and Malvern Hills District Council. We have been blown away by the response and hope to make it a regular promotion going forward."
