Malvern Hills District car parks achieve national award

Car parks within the Malvern Hills District have achieved a national award for their high safety standards.

The 14 car parks, owned and managed by Malvern Hills District Council, have been awarded the coveted Park Mark, which forms part of the Safer Parking Scheme.

The Safer Parking Scheme, a national standard for UK car parks, is aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking areas, to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.

According to the scheme, the distinctive Park Mark sign 'ensures drivers can find car parks to confidently leave their vehicle, knowing the environment is safer'.

The award, managed by The British Parking Association, is credited to parking facilities that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police and the British Parking Association.

All of the 14 council owned car parks are located in Great Malvern, Barnards Green, Link Top, Upton upon Severn and Tenbury Wells.

Cllr Peter Whatley, Portfolio Holder for Resources at Malvern Hills District Council, with responsibility for car parks said: "We are delighted to have been awarded the Park Mark Award. We strive to provide a safe and clean environment for residents and visitors to park their car. It is testament to our civil enforcement officers, property and cleansing teams who work hard to ensure standards are maintained. The award is a well-deserved recognition of our on-going commitment to keeping people safe."

Matt Robinson, Area Manager for British Parking Association said: "I am delighted that MHDC have achieved the Park Mark award for 14 of their Car Parks, demonstrating their hard work and commitment to provide a safe environment for users."
