Malvern Well Dressing Festival returns this weekend

The Malvern Well Dressing Festival is all set to return this weekend with an abundance of royal decorations and creations.

The popular festival will be held from Saturday, 29 April to Sunday, 7 May 2023, and will see more than 50 wells creatively decorated in the theme of 'Kings and Queens'.

The festival starts with dressing the wells on Friday, 28 April, Judging takes place on Saturday, 29 April, and prize giving with rosettes and certificates on Bank Holiday Monday, 1 May, in Priory Park where the May Day Water Festival also takes place.

The event celebrates the history of the Malvern Hills District, including its iconic spring water and Victorian Water Cure. It is brought to the town by the Malvern Spa Association with local businesses and community groups taking part.

Maps of where the wells are located can be downloaded from the Visit The Malverns website or picked up from Great Malvern Tourist Information Centre, located on Church Street.

Entertainment taking place during the festival includes singing, self-guided walks, well blessings, minibus tours and more.

The Water Festival includes a mixture of free and paid children's activities and entertainment, including inflatable fun, face painting, circus skills workshop, Creative Clay workshops, live music and much more.

Victoria Carman, Visitor Economy Manager from Malvern Hills District Council said: "We're getting very excited about the return of the much-loved Malvern Well Dressing and Water Festival in this year's theme 'Kings and Queens'. Thank you to everyone from the local community who has helped to dress a well, spring or spout for our annual celebration of Malvern Spring Water. Please join us in Priory Park on Monday 1 May for our family fun day and prize giving ceremony."
