Community projects in need of funding encouraged to attend workshop

People across the Malvern Hills District will have the chance to learn more about how they can raise funds to make their community projects a reality.

Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) has launched Crowdfund Malvern Hills, which gives individuals, organisations, and businesses the opportunity to create projects that make the district greener, healthier, and connected.

A free online workshop will be held on 5 September from 2pm to 3pm which will cover:

  • Funding available to help make ideas happen.
  • Advice on creating a project and how to run an amazing crowdfunding campaign
  • Interactive breakout rooms to access specialised support

The event will be run by Spacehive, the community fundraising platform, together with MHDC.

Along with ongoing promotional advice and support, projects that sign up to the Crowdfund Malvern Hills can receive donations from backers within the community and as much as 50% of the total fundraising target (maximum of £50,000) could be donated by MHDC.

Crowdfund Malvern Hills was launched earlier this month at an event at Malvern Cube. Guest speakers included Sarah Nickolds, Partnership Manager at Spacehive, representatives from MHDC, Maggs Day Centre, Butterfly Conservation Society, and Malvern Link with Cowleigh Parish.

Cllr Tom Wells, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: "We are so pleased to have launched Crowdfund Malvern Hills, which aims to make community projects- both big and small- a reality. We are particularly interested in project ideas that make the Malvern Hills District greener, healthier, and connected. We are encouraging anyone that has an idea to come along to the workshop to learn more".

The workshop event will be recorded for anyone that cannot attend. Please register your details for the event, to receive a recording.
