The magic of Narnia set to stay in Malvern until the New Year

News item published on 12 December 2023

Two Narnia themed trails are set to stay in Malvern as the end date is extended until the New Year.

The Narnia Window Art Trail, and Gas Lamp Trail will run until 1 January 2024 around Malvern.

The two trails were launched on 25 November at the Great Malvern Christmas Festival and were originally taking place over one week, to celebrate the 125th birthday of renowned Chronicles of Narnia author, C. S. Lewis and his connections to the town.

The trails have now been extended for residents and visitors to enjoy across the whole of the festive season.

The Narnia Window Art Trail has been created by local artist group Creatives Connect Malvern, and supported by Malvern Traders and Malvern Hills District Council.

The impressive window displays hae been hand painted by local artists themed around the works of C.S. Lewis and appear on the window fronts of over 40 participating shops and businesses around Great Malvern, Malvern Link, Link Top and Barnards Green.

Visitors can also take part in the Great Malvern Gas Lamp Trail where they can see 13 Victorian gas lamps that have been restored to their former glory.

The trail also passes by other C. S. Lewis themed landmarks including a Mr Tumnus bench and C.S Lewis plinth.

Maps are available to collect from Great Malvern Tourist Information Office.

Cllr Beverley Nielsen, Portfolio Holder for Tourism and Economic Development at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are so pleased that these two wonderful trails have been extended for all to enjoy. We encourage people to go out and explore the trails over the festive period, whilst also supporting our local businesses along the way.”
