Renovation works have been completed on a public toilet block in Barnards Green.
The toilets on Court Road, opened to the public at the start of the month after an impressive refurbishment.
The works formed part of the council's Five Year Plan to invest in the refurbishment of five town centre toilets by 2025 and reduce the council's own use of electricity and water.
The project has been part-funded via the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Four toilet blocks have now been completed, Great Malvern was one of the first town centre toilets to be renovated in April 2022, followed by Tenbury Wells in June 2023, Hanley Road Upton upon Severn in January 2024, and now Barnards Green.
The toilet block in Great Malvern along Edith Walk will be completed next.
A full refurbishment has been completed in Barnards Green, improvements include:
- New windows and doors
- External repairs
- Low water usage taps
- Low flush toilet
- Complete re-tile
- Re-decoration
- New cubicles
- Above ground drainage
- New mechanical and electrical installation
- National Grid compound revamped.
Cllr Malcolm Victory, Ward Member for Barnards Green, said: “It is marvellous to see the transformation of this small facility. It will be a pleasure for residents to use, and reduces energy and water use."
Cllr John Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Resources at Malvern Hills District Council said: "We are really pleased with the refurbishment. It has really brightened this public space and made it very user friendly, and what's more, it will allow water usage to be reduced, which is a good benefit for the environment.”
