NEWS: Car park improvement projects completed in Upton
Essential maintenance and accessibility upgrades have now been completed on two Council owned car parks in Upton upon Severn.
The planned works, from Malvern Hills District Council, started on Monday 3 March, and finished on Friday 4, April.
The projects, which took place on Hanley Road and New Street car parks, included improvements to ensure safe and convenient access for all users.
Accessibility improvements include:
Hanley Road Car Park
Parking bays redesigned to incorporate a 1.2m wide access zone, with new yellow hatching.
New Blue Badge Holders Only signage.
Pedestrian walkway updated near public facilities, with new ramp lines, existing handrail extension and new handrail installed.
Updated bench seating area with space to allow a wheelchair user to be alongside a seated companion.
Motorbike locking rail installed.
New Street Car Park
Updated accessible parking bays.
Ticket machine barrier installed.
Motorbike locking rail installed.
Mark Hammond, Community Infrastructure and Developments Manager at Malvern Hills District Council said: “We are really pleased with the completed works. It’s really important to ensure our car parks are accessible for all users to help residents and visitors feel confident and safe”.
