NEWS: Outdoor courts receive impressive refresh at Sport Dyson Perrins

Outdoor courts in Great Malvern have received an impressive refurbishment at Sport Dyson Perrins Leisure Centre.

The upgrade of the outdoor courts, which now include tennis, basketball, netball and pickleball, forms a key part of Malvern Hills District Council’s (MHDC) investment into council-owned facilities.

The project has been made possible through funding of £95k from MHDC, Freedom Leisure, and Dyson Perrins CofE Academy, as part of the council’s Community Infrastructure Investment Plan, launched in April 2025.

The plan will see up to £3million invested into council-owned facilities and public open spaces to create healthier communities and improve accessibility.

Amongst these facilities are Malvern Rugby Football Club, Malvern Town Football Club, Upton Hill Centre, Malvern Vale Community Centre, and a new community facility which will be built in Leigh Sinton.

The Sport Dyson Outdoor Court refurbishment includes:

  • Resurfacing of existing courts with a new colour coated surface to ensure the facility is safe and inviting for the next 15+ years.
  • Re-marking of five tennis courts and four netball courts.
  • Four new basketball courts and four new pickleball courts have been newly designed onto the existing court.
  • Brand new LED floodlights have been installed to reduce environmental impact.

Cllr Jennie Watkins, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Housing at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are really pleased with the refurbishment of the courts, this investment is a key part of our priority to develop community areas for wellbeing across the district, to help create healthier communities and improve accessibility”.
