NEWS: New Trail Tales heritage walking stories launch across The Malverns

Residents and visitors are being invited to step outside, get moving, and discover the hidden stories of their local town centres across The Malverns through a walking app.

Trail Tales is free to access and offers a series of heritage walking stories for Great Malvern, Malvern Link, Tenbury Wells, and Upton upon Severn.

Designed to bring local history to life, the app combines gentle walking routes (suitable for a wide range of abilities) with engaging stories that reveal the people, places and moments that have shaped each town.

Supported by the expertise of a local historian, the trails provide a guided walk with directions, an audio description, photos and historical facts taking in sights such as Malvern Priory, St Ann’s Well, the ancient Link Stone and The Morgan Factory.

The trails have been commissioned by Malvern Hills District Council to help visitors discover the hidden gems of The Malverns for free.

Cllr Beverley Nielsen, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Tourism for Malvern Hills District Council said: “Trail Tales is a wonderful way for people to reconnect with the places they know and love. These walking stories invite residents and visitors alike to discover the heritage on their doorstep, learn more about their town’s roots, and enjoy the simple wellbeing benefits of getting outside and walking together."

Victoria Carman, Visitor Economy and Place Manager at Malvern Hills District Council said: As well as the overall health benefits it provides, Trail Tales is also about social connection. The stories are designed to spark conversations, memories and shared experiences, making them ideal for walking and talking with others. They offer a chance for generations to come together, swap stories of their own, and deepen their sense of belonging to place.
