Parish and town councils across the Malvern Hills district will be able to apply for funding to help with neighbourhood planning.
Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) is providing a grant of up to £10,000 per council to help cover the costs of preparing a new plan or reviewing an adopted plan.
The funding follows the Government’s decision in June last year to withdraw the previously available grant.
By making sure this grant scheme is in place, MHDC is ensuring that residents, businesses, and stakeholders can effectively collaborate to shape local land use, making sure that community needs and aspirations are prioritised through a neighbourhood plan.
Parish and town councils are being encouraged to apply for the grant by submitting an expression of interest form online from 1 April 2026. The grant will be available for the council, as and when they decide to prepare a neighbourhood plan.
Cllr David Harrison, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Flooding at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are pleased to be offering this funding scheme to local parish and town councils to help support with neighbourhood planning. The removal of the Government funding would mean councils would need to raise up to £10,000 themselves. By continuing to provide funding, it shows our commitment to empowering residents and promoting community-backed development. I strongly urge parish and town councils to apply for the great opportunity”.
