Residents in Guarlford and Madresfield are being encouraged to share their views on proposals to merge the two parishes.
The first stage of consultation, held as part of Malvern Hills District Council’s Community Governance Review, found that most respondents were in favour of Guarlford and Madresfield forming one parish council.
The second stage of the consultation is now live and asks residents, councillors, businesses and local organisations for their views on the following recommendations:
- Merge Guarlford Parish Council and Madresfield Parish Council to create a new single parish for the area.
- Name the new parish Guarlford and Madresfield Parish Council.
- Set the number of councillors at seven.
- Hold the first election on Thursday 6 May 2027.
The second stage of consultation will run from today (29 June 2026) until midnight on 10 August 2026.

It has been valuable to receive feedback on how the community would like the parishes to be run. I would encourage everyone to read the recommendations and respond to the second stage of consultation. It is very important to have your say on the future of Guarlford and Madresfield Parish Councils.”
The review was requested by Guarlford and Madresfield Parish Councils and will consider whether current arrangements reflect the identities and interests of the community.
