NEWS: Renovation works completed at Malvern Vale Community Centre

More than £500,000 of improvement works have now been completed at Malvern Vale Community Centre.

The project began on 29 June 2026 and the upgraded centre in Swinyard Road, Malvern, is now ready to welcome the community.

The nine-week refurbishment programme formed part of Malvern Hills District Council’s commitment to developing and strengthening community hubs for wellbeing by investing more than £9m into community facilities as part of its Community Infrastructure Investment Plan 2025-28.

The following improvements have been made as part of the project:

  • New café and servery.
  • Existing changing rooms and referee changing facilities removed to create flexible multi-use meeting spaces.
  • Reconfiguration of internal layout to improve community use.
  • New seating area providing a comfortable space for visitors to relax and socialise.
  • Newly installed Wi-Fi throughout the building

The improvements are designed to better meet the needs of the local community and increase the centre’s capacity to host a wider range of activities and services.

The centre is also expanding its programme of activities, with new sessions including Les Mills Born to Move, Mummy & Me Fitness, Good Boost Land, Menopause Talks, Health Walks and Buggy Walks.

Cllr Jennie Watkins, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Housing at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "The centre is an important hub for local residents, and these improvements will help ensure it can continue to meet the needs of the community for years to come. This project is a great example of our commitment to investing in community facilities and strengthening the places where people can come together, connect and improve their wellbeing.”

Rob Tyler, Area Manager at Freedom Leisure, said: “We’re delighted to be expanding what the centre can offer the local community. These improvements will create a more welcoming space for people to come together, stay active and connect with others. Alongside the services already available here, including the Family Hub delivered by Action for Children, we look forward to welcoming both new and existing users through our doors.”

The centre offers meeting space for hire and is also home to the district’s only Family Hub, delivered by Action for Children through the Starting Well Partnership.
