How can we help you?

We are responsible for removing graffiti and flyposting from public buildings, street furniture (such as litter bins or benches) or monuments.

Responsibility for removing graffiti or flyposting on other types of property depends on who the owner is.

  • Privately owned buildings: The building owner is responsible. If we consider the graffiti is of an offensive nature then we will remove it on their behalf.
  • Phone boxes or telecommunications cabinets: British Telecom are responsible for these. Please report issues to them on 0800 023 2023 and select option 1 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • Post boxes: These are the responsibility of Royal Mail. Please report issues to them on 03457 740 740.
  • Railway stations, bridges and land on or near a railway: These are the responsibility of Network Rail. Visit how Network Rail deals with graffiti(opens in a new window) for more information and to report issues.
  • Bus shelters: Town and parish councils are responsible for these. You can use our My Local Area tool to search for the parish or town council where the bus shelter is located.

Reporting graffiti and flyposting

You can report all graffiti and flyposting on public buildings and property to us.

For private property and buildings, if you can find out who owns the property there is an issue with, then you will get a faster response if you report the matter directly to them.

If you are unsure or don't know, you can report graffiti or flyposting to us and we will then contact the property owner and request it is removed. In some limited circumstances, we may decide to remove it. If we consider the graffiti you are reporting is offensive, then we will always remove it regardless of who owns the property.

Before you make your report, please make sure you have the following information to hand:

  • Details of the graffiti/flyposting, including whether it's offensive or racially motivated
  • The location of the graffiti/flyposting
  • Any evidence you may have (a photo or video)
