The law says that we have to publish a statement of licensing policy that says how we will carry out our licensing functions in relation to alcohol, entertainment and late night refreshment.
The policy has to be written in accordance with the licensing laws and guidance issued to us by the Government and has to be reviewed at least every five years.
Our policy helps officers and councillors to make decisions on particular applications by setting out the things that will normally be taken into account when deciding whether to grant an application and what conditions should be attached to any particular licence or certificate.
Our policy also tries to make things clear to applicants and residents to help them to understand the objectives being promoted and the matters that will be considered when deciding whether to grant licences.
